Ex-President of the main Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dozie Ikedife, said it was too early at this stage to be considering granting amnesty to Boko Haram. Groups opposing Sultan Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar's call described it as ill-timed and outrageous.
Ikedife agreed that the country was in a desperate need to end the Boko Haram terrorist attack, however, he believed rather than an amnesty, it was rather essential to first get the identities of sect's leaders and their sponsors. Then a dialogue was next on the to do list.
"There is a need to stop the senseless killings. But what type of amnesty are you talking about? They have not been seen and there is the need to understand what their grievances are, then they can say grant them amnesty or not," he said.
Leader of the Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti, on Wednesday allegedly said an amnesty recommendation for Boko Haram was highly unfortunate.
Fasoranti said, the Sultan's call for Amnesty for Boko Haram was an "approval of the caliphate for the mass killings, devastation and destructive activities of the dreaded sect over the years."
"I cannot imagine why a highly placed person in the calibre of Sultan be seeking amnesty for a sect whose activities had rendered many homeless and left thousands of children as orphans.
"The sultan's call is obviously an indication that the caliphate is encouraging and condoning bloody violence. It is unheard of that the Sultan, who should speak up and denounce the evil sect, wanted them treated with kid gloves.
"Our position in Afenifere is that the Boko Haram members are evil. They should be identified and severely dealt with according to the laws of the land," he said.
In support, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties also criticized the request for amnesty, approving Ikedife's stand that Boko Haram members had to reveal themselves and cease fire first before amnesty could be suggested.

I try looking up for it definition.
1. A general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.
2. an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.
3. a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.
Personally i think this is outrageuos. What happens to lives that were lost?
What happens to business that were destroyed?
What happens to foreign aids that came to serve her but killed?
What happened to goverment buildings that were destroyed?
What happened to billion of Nairas of tax payers money slundered into all these?
